Virtual
clusters
You can purchase access to Streaming Speech courses for
students to use in a 'virtual cluster'. A virtual cluster consists of
a set of 'virtual desks', computers at which students can study Streaming
Speech courses online.
Virtual
desks
You rent from us a fixed number of virtual desks, with access to one,
two, or all four of our publications. Any of your institution's computers,
or your students' computers, can become a virtual desk (they must be compatible,
and attached to the internet). If you rent say, 30 virtual desks, this
means that you can have 30 concurrent sessions, 30 students simultaneously
logged in, and working on our publications. As students enter the web-site,
they are told (a) how many concurrent sessions are open ('how many desks
are occupied'), and (b) how many concurrent sessions are available for
use ('how many desks are free'). If there are desks free, then a student
turns their computer into a virtual desk by logging in.
Numbers of users
You can have a large number of students registered to use the virtual
cluster during the period of your agreement with us. Thus if you have
a thirty deck cluster, then you can have up to 300 students registered. These students' time online, and progress on the exercises, is logged.
Each student has their own individual virtual workspace. They must have
a personal email address to which confirmation of their user-name and
their passwords will be sent. If your students' circumstances permit, and there are sufficient virtual desks,
they can access their accounts from any compatible computer which is attached
to the internet.
Pricing
Agreements are for twelve months. Agreements are subject to a minimum
fee of £500 per year, for which you get up to 20 virtual desks,
and access to two publications of your choice. The price list is here.
Arrangements for the virtual cluster service should be
made directly with Richard Cauldwell. [
